It's unfortunate, because one thing that I think SEED did incredibly well was transforming the principle characters in it, but Destiny either doesn't bother changing people, or changes them strictly for the worse. Destiny is a confused show that can't quite keep a focus on any particular idea or character for very long, and it squanders what time it does have on not developing characters in compelling ways.

The series had some very definite production problems, most of which was focused on the writer of the show. For the most part, even though the series has some definite faults, the story its centered on is so compelling and interesting that those faults don't particularly matter to me.ĭestiny is a bit of a mess. I frequently liken my love for SEED to being a fan of the Prequel Trilogy from Star Wars. I think the ideas it raises about eugenics, transhumanism and the cycle of human hatred and how those three things all mix in together are among the best in the series, and if I'm being perfectly honest, are infinitely more compelling than Spacenoid vs Earthnoid or Newtype vs Oldtype. About halfway through, it veers away from being a retelling and becomes its own thing.
It is essentially a soft re-telling of 0079 at the start, with some added flair. SEED is one of my favorite Gundam series. If any of these policies are violated, moderators may have to call in a colony drop on your post/account.
